Kamloops' Emergency Services Day is this Saturday

Emergency services in Kamloops will be joining forces to host a free community event on Saturday, May 6.

From 10 am to 2 pm, the community will gather at the Sandman Centre parking lot to see emergency vehicles and equipment, ask questions, learn about available services and volunteer opportunities, as well as meet the individuals serving the community.

“We are excited to once again host this event in our community to showcase the extraordinary teams and partners who serve and protect our community,” said Will Beatty, the City’s emergency preparedness manager.

Kamloops Fire Rescue, the local RCMP and BC Ambulance Service will be present, as well as the RCMP Air 4 helicopter pending weather or an emergency, the Alexa Bus, a fire apparatus and a water tender.

More than two dozen partner organizations will be on site, including BC Sheriff Service, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Kamloops Search and Rescue, and Kamloops Emergency Support Services.

The event comes a day before Emergency Preparedness Week, which is May 7-13, to provide residents the opportunity to learn how to be better prepared for emergency situations.

Complimentary parking will be available during the event hours in the Heritage House and Riverside Park west parking lots, as well as at 500 Lorne Street.

The Lansdowne Street and Seymour Street parkades offer free parking every weekend.
