Kamloops Fire Rescue sprung into action quickly on Tuesday night as they were dealing with a garbage truck fire on Concordia Way.
According to Platoon Captain Mike Haines, the call originally came in as a fire alarm, but crews soon learned that wasn't the case.
"The call originally came in as a fire alarm," said Haines. "When crews arrived, they saw white smoke coming from the building."
Haines adds that the building saw no damage as a result of the blaze, and no one was hurt.
"The sprinkler system was activated, the fire was knocked down with an inch and three quarter-line. They ventilated the building."
Kamloops Fire Inspector Ray Webster confirmed that the fire started in the engine of the garbage truck.
"I don't have the cause yet, we only have the origin which was in the engine compartment," said Webster. "It started at the engine, it's a write-off. The building itself was touched.
