Tuesday appeared to be crime night in the River City as Kamloops RCMP was really put to the test.
According to Sgt. Jeff Bingley, the night started with a traffic stop downtown that netted a man with two outstanding arrest warrants. When they searched the vehicle, police also seized a replica gun, cattle prod, drugs, and drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was impounded and the suspect is set to appear before a judge this morning.
Later, a truck stolen from 100 Mile House was located on Seymour Street. The lone occupant was arrested without incident but later released pending a court date.
Another traffic stop on Tranquille resulted in an arrest for trafficking narcotics. During a search of the vehicle, officers found two loaded shotguns, knives, body armour, narcotics and 2,800 cash.
Finally, a third traffic stop got another suspect behind bars for possession for the purpose of trafficking. A large number of narcotics and over $3,600 were all seized from the man.
“Excellent proactive Police work yielded significant amounts of drugs and weapons that were removed from the streets of Kamloops and quite a few offenders earned a well-deserved night in jail," said Sgt Jeff Bingley.
All findings from those investigations were forwarded to the Public Prosecution of Canada who will determine the charges.
