The RCMP say they arrested a Scotch Creek man wanted out of Penticton and recovered a stolen vehicle earlier this week.
On Monday afternoon, around 1 pm, Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officers received a call about a suspicious truck in the 1200-block of Kootenay Way.
According to a news release from the police, an older model Ford 350 pickup truck was one of two recently reported as stolen out of Chase.
“Two men on the property were detained, one of which apparently provided a false name and soon after attempted to flee from police,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn.
“He was quickly taken back into custody, following a brief foot pursuit.”
During the initial investigation, the officers determined one of the men, 42-year-old Matthew Duewan Gilmore, was wanted on warrants out of Penticton for several charges.
That includes failing to appear in court, assault a police officer with a weapon, obstruction of a police officer, flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and possession of stolen property.
Gilmore was arrested and held for court.
The stolen truck was recovered and a separate investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at (250) 314-1800.
