A Kamloops woman is looking at the public to be her saviour after she was told her kidneys were failing.
Julie Dodds took to Facebook to tell the city she is suffering from Medullary Kidney Disease Type 1, a genetic kidney disease. Dodds is in need of a living kidney donor for her best chance at life.
"I understand that this is a huge request but for myself, for my husband who wants nothing other than to be able to save me from all of this, for my 3 boys who still need their mom to be present and healthy in their lives," wrote Dodds. "It would mean absolutely everything."
"The unknown, what will my life look like, has been very stressful but the outlook for a living donor transplant is my best case scenario, hands down. Will you help?"
According to Transplant BC, any healthy adult can donate one kidney. Most kidney surgeries are done through tiny incisions, leaving donors in the hospital for less than a week. Adults can live with one kidney without complications.
