Kamloops youth allegedly threatened with firearm, chased on local trail

Mounties in Kamloops are turning to the public for help following a concerning report in Kamloops.

Officers responded to a call for assistance in the Juniper Ridge area around 7 pm on Saturday, Dec. 28.

They learned that a youth had allegedly been threatened with a firearm, then chased while on a trail around 4 pm.

According to police, the youth was reportedly walking on the trail near Capilano Drive when they encountered a man sitting on a log.

The man allegedly produced a firearm and threatened the youth with it, then chased them onto the roadway.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with a brown beard and moustache. He’s said to have been wearing a toque, medical mask and fanny pack at the time.

“Upon receiving the report, officers attended and surveyed the area, obtained statements and canvassed for video,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

“We are turning to the public in an attempt to obtain more security or dash camera footage, witnesses and information that could help further the investigation.”

Since this incident on Dec. 28, police say they have not received any similar reports since.
