The Mayor’s Gala for the Arts has moved into the 21st century, putting its annual silent auction online this year. Anyone can start bidding on auction items starting today at mayorsgalafortheart.ca.
Highlights from the auction include a Whistler heli tour for two, a private B.C. winery tour for 10, a Quebec City getaway for two and a craft brewery tour for 10.
Funds raised through the auction are split between the Kamloops Art Gallery, Kamloops Symphony and Western Canada Theatre.
The 11th Annual Mayor’s Gala for the Arts is set for Jan. 20 at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre. The 2018 gala is Copacabana themed. Attendees will also be able to bid in the online auction at the event. Gala tickets are available online through the Kamloops Live box office.
This year’s award finalists were announced at the end of November. For Emerging Artist, the finalists are visual artist Zach Abney (see his work here), musician JP Lancaster (see his work here) and actor and director Andrew Cooper (see his work here).
For Business in Support of the Arts, the finalists are Kamloops This Week, CFJC Midday Show and the Royal Bank of Canada.
For Artist of the Year: Visual Arts, the finalists are Kristina Benson (see her work here), David Langevin (see his work here) and Donald Lawrence (see his work here).
