(UPDATE: 8:35 p.m.) - BC Hydro says that they have restored the outages that knocked out power to about 5,500 customers in the city.
The outages occurred between 3:34 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. due to an equipment failure, BC Hydro reports.
The restorations came in sequence with the most recent outage, which affected the most residents, being restored shortly after 8 p.m.

Several major power outages are affecting Kamloops residents over an estimated 5,500 residents in the Kamloops area, according to BC Hydro.
The outages, which have been listed in four sectors, have been cutting power since between 3:34 p.m. and 3:44 p.m., BC Hydro reports.
In the area of the largest amount of residents is an outage that covers east of Sunshine Court, west of Rose Hill Road, North of Garibaldi Drive and South of McGill Road, which is affecting 2539 customers.

Also affected are areas south of Victoria Street, west of 12th Avenue and north of Chino Place (1535 customers affected); south of Tranquille Road (1477 affected); and an area west of Victoria Street, south of Mission Flats Road and north of Hillside Drive (33 affected).

All of the outages are currently under investigation and BC Hydro expects crews to arrive at 4:30 p.m.
