The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association has named its new executive director.
Carl DeSantis will replace Gay Pooler, the outgoing KCBIA general manager who is retiring after holding the position for 14 years. DeSantis will join the association later this month.
DeSantis led a nearly 30-year career with the Calgary Police Service and in 2011 was appointed as the founding Justice Studies Program coordinator at Bow Valley College. Wife Beverley DeSantis was named the new CEO of Tourism Kamloops in 2016 when the couple relocated from Calgary.
DeSantis said he is “both excited and honoured to have been chosen to lead the KCBIA and is “anxious to get to work and have constructive conversations with our stakeholders.”
The North Shore Business Improvement Association also saw a change in leadership as of late.
Executive director Steven Puhallo resigned his position in the fall and Jeremy Heighton took over the role of executive director on Jan. 8. Heighton was previously the member relations coordinator at the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce.
