Off-duty police officer stops man from jumping off building in Kamloops

An off-duty Kamloops RCMP officer may have saved a life last weekend.

According to police, on Saturday at 10 am, the off-duty officer was driving downtown when they saw a man screaming from a window. The man was reportedly threatening to jump from an awning attached to the building.

This is when the officer identified himself as Kamloops RCMP and offered to help.

He was able to talk the man off the ledge while other officers responded.

The man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act. He was then taken to the hospital for a medical assessment.
