About a month ago, a Kamloops plumber became a hero when he saved a kitten stuck in a sewer pipe.
Dan Groess, owner of A Groess Underground, is now the proud new owner of the rescued cat, Midnight.
It all started when Groess received a call regarding a trapped kitten in a conduit. Groess and his daughter Ariana quickly went to the scene to comfort the scared kitten.
The two were able to locate Midnight 10 m down the line by placing a camera down the conduit.
After gaining the kitten's trust, the two began to lead him out of the pipe. Eventually, the pipe became too steep for the kitten so Groess took a rag and taped it to the camera head.
The kitten intuitively grabbed onto the cloth and Ariana and her dad began to pull him up.
After a visit to the SPCA, a snack and some cuddles, Midnight was found to be in good health!
Now, he will be gallivanting around the Groess’ house furever.
“Instant bond with him. My daughter wanted to bring him home as soon as we pulled him out of the pipe. Of course, we had to ensure he was in good health first,” said Groess.
Groess loves his new family member so much that he and his company will be donating a portion of the businesses September sales to the BC SPCA!
Midnight has been living his best life with the Groess’ since Saturday night and has adjusted to the change nicely.
I guess animals really do pick their owners!
