Kamloops residents looking to experience show business should check this out!
Ken Hegan will be filming part of his screenplay "Outrunners" in the Kamloops desert starting next month. The movie follows a determined young woman who is trying to save her mother's life during a global pandemic.
The comedy-thriller will see the woman dodging snipers as well as reality show camera drones while she races against the clock. This will be Hegan's sixth feature screenplay but first as a director.
Born and raised in Kamloops, Hegan has been a writer for Rolling Stone, GQ, 20 TV shows, and George Stroumbolopouslous's CBC talk show. Hegan was also selected as the Vancouver Public Library's first-ever "Screenwriter in Residence" earlier this year.
The production company is looking for help from Kamloops residents to fill a number of holes behind the scenes. Any residents with products or businesses to promote could see their dreams come to life if they can help the crew out with a number of needs.
Production needs a "nice, large house" with a backyard and a hot tub for two days of filming, house and RV accommodations between Sept. 8 and 19, and a home with a fictional hospital room with a bed, IV stand, and an EKG monitor.
The team will also be filming popular Kamloops landmarks like The Plaza Hotel and areas such as downtown and Brocklehurst.
