RCMP officers save lost dog near Elephant Hill fire and reunite him with family

A golden lab has a new lease on life thanks to RCMP officers working the Elephant Hill fire.

On Monday, August 7th, RCMP officers were manning check points and roving patrols on Highway 99 near Pavilion Lake when they found the dog.

He was tired and worn out, wandering around the highway when officers first saw him.

“The friendly golden lab gladly accepted a ride and was taken back to the Clinton RCMP detachment,” said a statement from the RCMP. “The old guy seemed quite content to take a load off and rest up while arrangements with the SPCA could be made to house the dog until owners were located.”

Officers spread the word of the lost dog around the communities in the area and before too long, more good news came.

The dog’s family got wind of the what happened and have now retrieved him from the RCMP.

“He was none worse for wear after a night of food, water, scritchy scratches and cuddles,” said the RCMP.

All's well that ends well for this good boy!
