UPDATE: Police want surveillance videos of fatal shooting

(UPDATE: September 23rd @ 12:32 p.m.)

Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public's help in the fatal shooting that took place on September 21st.

The shooting left Konaam Shirzad, 34, dead and a 28-year-old male with non-life threatening injuries.

Police want to speak with anyone who may have surveillance video or a dash cam video of the footage, specifically covering Summit Drive between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday September 21st.

(UPDATE: September 22nd @ 9:15 a.m.) — Kamloops RCMP have named the victim of last night's fatal shooting.

Konaam Shirzad, 34, was shot and killed in what RCMP are calling a targeted attack. RCMP say Shirzad was a known member of the Red Scorpions gang. They are asking the public to come forward with any information related to the shooting.

RCMP responded to reports of shots being fired outside a residence Hudson's Bay Trail at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, September 21st. Shirzad found dead and another victim, a 28-year-old male, was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Two suspects fled on foot.

Soon after the shooting, a vehicle was reported burning on Odin Court off of Whiteshield Crescent. It is unknown if the vehicle and the shooting are related. RCMP are asking anyone with information relating to the shooting or the vehicle to contact police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8277.

The residence on Hudson's Bay Trail is still being secured by police for further investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.

(Original story September 21 @ 9 p.m.) — Two men have been shot in Kamloops, one of the males is deceased, the other is in Royal Inland Hospital.

This evening at approximately 7:20 pm, Kamloops RCMP received multiple reports of shots being fired on Hudson’s Bay Trail in South Kamloops. When police officers arrived, they found one man already deceased and the other suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound. The shooting took place outside of a residence. Two suspects fled on foot. Approximately 10 minutes later a vehicle was reported burning on Oden Court in Sahali.

It is unknown at this time if this vehicle and the shooting are related.

It is believed that this is a targeted shooting as both victims are known to police. RCMP do not believe there is a threat to the public.

The public is asked to avoid Hudson’s Bay Trail. Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit, General Duty, Crime Reduction Unit and Police Dog Services are actively investigating in the area and it is a fluid situation.
