For the second year in a row, the mayors of Logan Lake and Ashcroft have been reelected as the chair and vice-chair for the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) board.
During the inaugural board meeting on Thursday, Barbara Roden was elected as chair and Robin Smith as vice-chair.
Both women have served as the board’s leadership team since 2022, which became the first time a female chair and vice-chair served the same term.
Electoral Area “I” director Tricia Thorpe was also nominated for Chair and Electoral Area “A” director Usoff Tsao was also nominated for Vice-Chair, resulting in elections being required for these positions among Board members.
Roden called the reelection a “tremendous honour.”
“I am grateful that they have put their trust in me again, as we all move forward to accomplish the goals set out in our Strategic Plan and to continue to serve the needs of the residents of the TNRD,” she said.
I am also pleased to be working with Vice-Chair Robin Smith for a third year; I value her guidance and her steady support.”
Roden also thanked Thrope and Tsao for putting their names forward.
Roden has sat on the TNRD board since 2018, the same year she was first elected as the mayor of Ashcroft.
Smith has been on the TNRD board since 2013 and has served as Logan Lake’s mayor since 2014.
