Kamloops RCMP held a press conference on Friday where they announced that they believe the suspect in a Rayleigh stabbing that occurred on Thursday night had a prior relationship to the victim.
According to Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodie Shelkie, the 21-year-old Kamloops man was also previously known to police.
"It is believed that they knew each other..." said Shelkie, "The suspect that was arrested was previously known to police."
Shelkie adds that there is no evidence that this event is connected to the drug trade in Kamloops. She went on to say that the incident was totally unrelated to the event that unfolded in Kamloops yesterday.
"No evidence that it is connected to the drug trade... Just a busy day for CP watch."
The case has been handed over to the BC Prosecution Office.
