Vehicle hits and kills person sitting against wall in Kamloops parking lot

A tragic accident has led to the death of one person in Kamloops this morning.

According to police, the victim was “sitting against a wall” in a parking lot when they were struck and killed by a vehicle.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police and other first responders were called to the parking lot in the 200 block of Tranquille Road around 4:40 am today.

Not many details were provided about the fatal incident, but Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said the driver “remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.”

“A visible police presence is in the area as officers investigate the collision,” noted Evelyn, who added that a provincial traffic reconstructionist is assisting with the probe.

In addition, the BC Coroners Service will be conducting its own concurrent investigation into the victim’s untimely death.

Anyone with information on the incident, or relevant dash cam footage from the area this morning, is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
