Kelowna RCMP hosting annual Toy Drive for Christmas

Christmas is just a few weeks away, and the Kelowna RCMP in partnership with the Salvation Army is looking to spread the holiday cheer this weekend.

In its second year, the ‘Stuff the Cruiser Toy Drive’ is aimed at helping families who have come under hard times; and is collecting donations and new toys for children aged 0-12.

Last year, 710 toys were collected as well as $1,227 was raised for Salvation Army Christmas programs.

“This year we have been presented with the challenges of the pandemic, but we still need your help to bring smiles to children’s faces on Christmas morning,” said Supt. Triance, Officer in Charge of the Kelowna RCMP.

On Nov. 27, from 10 am to 3 pm Kelowna residents can bring their new, unwrapped toys to the North Parking lot of the Kelowna RCMP Detachment, as well as the Toys-R-Us on Harvey Ave.

This year’s event has been designed with social distancing and safety in mind. There will be bins set up where donations can be dropped off and masked volunteers will be there to assist.
