The RCMP have officially identified the body that was found in a Kelowna orchard on October 11th.
The victim has been positively identified as 23-year-old Russia Nicholson of West Kelowna.
Now, the RCMP are hoping that the public can help police find out more information about her final days.
“RCMP are asking the public to come forward to police, as investigators work to establish a timeline of the hour and moments that lead up to Russia’s death,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
“Series crimes investigators are also looking to track the movements of Russia Nicholson’s four-door white 2010 Ford Fusion between the hours of 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. on October 11th, the day of her passing.”
The RCMP are asking businesses or homeowners in a couple of areas to review any video surveillance footage they may have during those eight hours.
That includes anywhere in the vicinity of the 2100 block of Cooper Road, where the victim’s body was discovered, and the 1300 block of Collison Road, where the victim’s vehicle was recovered.
The RCMP would also like to remind the public that investigators have reason to believe this wasn’t a random attack and that Nicholson knew her attacker.
Anyone with information is urged to call Cst. Nicole Shuttleworth of the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crimes Unit at 250-470-6395.
