The Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) successfully knocked down a dangerous fire near downtown on Monday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m., the KFD dispatch center received multiple 911 calls reporting visible smoke coming from a fire in the alley behind the 700 block of Stockwell Ave.
Upon arrival, one fire officer reported a large 20-foot long cedar hedge was on fire and emitting flames up to 20-feet high.
Two engines and a command vehicle with nine personnel were dispatched and were able to quickly bring the fire under control.
RCMP will be investigating the fire's origin.
