Rate hike for airport parking taking effect next month

Those planning to park at Kelowna International Airport after Dec. 1 will notice increased rates in effect.

Kelowna city council approved the rate hike at Monday’s council meeting after hearing plans to build more parking infrastructure.

• $8 jump in the weekly rate in the long-term lot
• $2 increase in the daily rate in the long-term parking lot
• Short-term parking and curbside meter rates will each go up 25 cents per hour

According to the city's report, the airport served 38% more passengers during the first 10 months of this year compared with 2013.
