St.Paul Satellite Market officially launches for the summer

For those who love the Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market but have a tough time making it over to Dilworth during the week, today is your lucky day!

Officially launched for the season the St. Paul Satellite Market is back and ready for another summer of spreading the #SupportLocal movement.

Created as a way to offer those who live downtown an opportunity to shop for fresh goodies without the hassle of dealing with city traffic, the idea of a second smaller market came to life in the summer of 2017.

The first series of pilot markets took place on Bernard Avenue, however, following some scheduling conflicts with the variety of events that take place on the busy avenue — the market moved to cozy St. Paul Street in 2018.

“There is a lot of people downtown that often can’t make it to our main market, so it gives them a chance to come down and buy local and that is really exciting,” said Frances Callaghan the market coordinator.

Similar to the market housed on the corner of Dilworth drive, the St.Paul event plays host to a variety of vendors from farmers with fresh veggies, artisans with handcrafted trinkets to local food trucks and more.

“We have quite a few vendors down here and something for everyone to shop — we wanted to make it people’s Sunday destination,” added Callaghan.

Though the street is under some mild construction, the market is still thriving despite being smaller than usual.

At its peak, Callaghan says attendees can expect to see a whopping 50 vendors each weekend in addition to tons of fun, themed events.

“We have about 10 festivals planned for the downtown venue, with the first one being a kick off to Canada Day!” she said.

The St. Paul Satellite Market will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Sunday in addition to the usual market that takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday on the corner of Springfield road and Dilworth drive.
