KWIC swimmers bring home 5 medals from Western Canadian Championships

Seventeen swimmers represented KWIC at the Western Canadian Championships held in Edmonton from April 11-14.

KWIC swam to a 14th place finish out of 60 teams and came home with some bling.

Leading the way for the females was Erin Epp who swam to a gold medal finish in the 100m breast and a silver medal in the 200m breast.

Axana Merckx swim to a silver medal finish in the 400m IM while Molly Hill swam to bronze in the 200m fly.

On the male side it was para swimmer, Cameron Chambers who was on the podium swimming to a silver in 50m free and bronze in the 200m IM.

Swimmers making finals and finishing in the top 20 were Cameron Chambers, Meagan Corrigan, Erin Epp, Kelsey Fillion, Molly Hill, Andrea Kraetzer, Alexanne Lepage, Axana Merckx, Ryan Murphy, Paul Neupert, Georgia Pengilly, Taylor Smith, Ava Toyata and Marc Toyata.

Those swimmers who made 100% best times were Flyn Huber and Paul Neupert.

Those just shy of 100% were Cameron Chambers and Andrea Kraetzer.

Others who had strong swims were Meagan Corrigan, Abigail Jerome and Daniil Savelev.

New qualifiers for the Canadian Junior Nationals are Flyn Huber, Alexanne Lepage, Ryan Murphy, Paul Neupert, Daniil Savelev and Ava Toyata

New qualifiers for the Canadian Senior Nationals are Georgia Pengilly and Taylor Smith.
