The Victoria Shamrocks now find themselves down two games to none in their playoff series against the Langley Thunder after a 15-10 loss in game two on Sunday.
Thunder forward Curtis Dickson caused the most trouble for the ‘Rocks, recording six points on four goals and two assists on the night.
Dane Dobbie also had another big performance for Langley, scoring eight points on a goal and seven assists in the win. The Elora, ON native has now counted a whopping 18 points on 4 goals and 14 assists over the first two games of the series.
Forward Jake Foster had the strongest game for Victoria in the loss, scoring three goals and adding a pair of assists for five points in the defeat.
The Thunder used a lightning-quick attack to take a 3-0 lead early in the contest, before counting four more in the opening frame against three from Victoria to carry a 7-3 lead into the second period.
It was more of the same for Langley in the middle stanza, opening up a 12-6 lead heading into the final frame.
The third would see the Shamrocks pull back within shouting distance after a trio of goals by Foster, Marshal King and Brad McCulley cut the Langley lead to 12-9 early in the period.
However the deficit would prove to be too much to overcome and the Thunder would add three more before the end of the frame to seal the 15-10 win and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
The teams will now travel back to the mainland for game three, set to get underway at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the Langley Events Centre in Langley.
