A man has been arrested and a stolen vehicle was recovered in Armstrong following a report of a stolen vehicle Friday afternoon.
On Friday, just before 1 pm, a civilian called Vernon RCMP to report a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 5600-block of Anderson Way.
According to the police report, the person observed a man slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle and called 9-1-1.
Before police arrived at the business to investigate the situation, the man left the area in a vehicle that was identified as having been stolen from a home in Armstrong two days before.
About 15 minutes later, police located and stopped the vehicle on Patterson Avenue in Armstrong and arrested the man without incident.
When officers searched the vehicle, they allegedly located a knife and suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. Police also determined that the man was bound by court ordered conditions not to be behind the wheel without the owner of the vehicle present.
A 30-year-old man was charged with one count of possession of stolen property and four counts of failing to comply with a release order – he remains in custody until his court appearance on Jan. 31.
