Burger 55 in Penticton has publicly released footage of an alleged break-in on Monday night.
According to co-owner Ronald Bee, the thief had a key to the business and used it to steal a safe containing the staff’s tips.
Bee estimates the safe was holding more than $1,500 in cash and says the robbery occurred at about 2:30 a.m. in the morning.
The owner believes the thief was familiar with the business and knew where the safe was allowing the robbery to be executed quickly.
Bee recently purchased the burger joint with his wife Sheela with the goal of upholding the restaurant's "You Gotta Eat Here" reputation.
