They’re world record short dance score of 83.67 is nearly two points better than France’s Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, who sit in second.
A pair of American duos, Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue as well as Maia and Alex Shibutani, are in a virtual tie for third, close to a full six points behind Virtue and Moir.
With the short dance part of the competition over, all that’s left for these pairs is the free dance, which takes place Tuesday morning in PyeongChang.
It’ll be a 5 p.m. PST Monday start for viewers in B.C., but Virtue and Moir will be the final skaters out closer to 8 p.m. PST (8:13 p.m. according to Skate Canada).

The Canadian flag bearers were favourites to win the competition before it started and have increased their odds with their impressive short dance performance.
Gold medallists at Vancouver 2010, Virtue and Moir will be looking to return to the top of the podium after a silver medal finish at Sochi 2014.
