Interior Health has issued a drug alert for Penticton following an increase in overdose activity.
IH says drugs being sold as “down” shows a high percentage of fentanyl which brings a high risk of overdose or fatal overdose.
According to recent drug testing samples, IH says the substance looks like grey pebbles.
The drug alert will remain in place until Wednesday, Feb. 1.
People who use drugs are reminded to avoid using alone and to start with a low amount and slowly increase their dosage to avoid overdosing.
IH encourages people to get their drugs tested and locations can be found at drugchecking.ca.
