Come March 2nd, skip the cooking, forget the dishes and head for the parking lot of the Lakeside Resort.
It's time for the 2023 iteration of the most famous and certainly most popular pick-up breakfast in the region -- the United Way's South Okanagan Drive-Thru Breakfast.
Not only will you drive -- or walk, or bike -- away with an assortment of breakfasty treats, giveaways, coupons, hot and cold beverages and perhaps a way cool prize to top it off, you'll also start the day knowing you've donated to one of the most worthwhile causes in the valley.
All contributions will go to important United Way initiatives -- like the Food Infrastructure Grant -- helping to ensure all residents from Summerland and Penticton to Princeton and Osoyoos can get the nourishing food they need, which in turn builds stronger, healthier communities.
But there's something else. It’s fun! PentictonNow has covered several United Way breakfasts in recent years and has always come away amazed that so many volunteers can all be so downright cheery so darned early in the morning.
As for those prizes, were talking everything from a two-night stay at Sparkling Hill Health and Wellness Resort to Pacific Coastal Airlines flight vouchers, and much more.
A minimum donation of $20 is suggested, which is a pretty good deal for all the food and drink and cool stuff and good vibes you'll get in return.
Hosted by the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre and happening in the resort's parking lot, the 11th annual South Okanagan Drive-Thru Breakfast unfolds Thursday, March 2 from 6:30 am to 9 am.
Be there or be square.
