‘Shred it and forget it’ this weekend in Penticton to protect yourself from identity theft

An event planned to take place in Penticton this weekend offers you some peace of mind when it comes to identity fraud.

Valley First of First West Credit Union is hosting a Shred it and Forget it event this Saturday. Members of the public can bring your personal documents for secure, on-site shredding and some tip on how to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud.

The event will feature complimentary shredding services with a cash or non-perishable food donation for Feed the Valley, Valley First’s signature community cause to raise food, funds and awareness for local food banks.

Attendees will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win a paper shredder courtesy of Valley First.

Shredding services will be provided by Okanagan Paper Shredding, a local paper destruction company. This event is being supported by several local businesses including Starbucks (Downtown Penticton), Appleton Waste Services and Downtown Penticton Association.

Bring your documents to Backstreet Blvd. beside Guerard’s Furniture between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday to take a stand against identity theft, and support a good cause at the same time.
