PG RCMP searching for man who allegedly stole a taxi

Police continue to search for a suspect after a taxi was stolen in Prince George last week.

It happened shortly before 5 am on Tuesday, Feb. 23, as the taxi driver went inside a residence in the 3600 block of Romanin Place while his vehicle warmed up.

He told the Prince George RCMP that he was inside for 15 minutes while the vehicle was running, but when he returned to begin his day, his taxi was gone.

Fortunately, the taxi was found parked and unoccupied around 25 minutes after the police were called.

Officers were able to obtain an image of the suspect through the taxi’s surveillance footage, which is now being released to the public.

“Once again, police are reminding the public that it is not safe to leave your vehicle running, with the keys inside, unoccupied for any length of time,” said Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

“It takes mere seconds for thieves to take your vehicle in these circumstances.”

Anyone with information on this auto theft or knowledge about who this man is should call the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300.

You can also report tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
