Prince George RCMP responded to 17 break and enters in 9 days this month

Prince George RCMP is warning the public following a recent spike in commercial break and enters in the community.

According to police, between August 4th and August 12th, 17 break and enters occurred in the city. Four of those crimes occurred on Quinn Street, three of them happened on Robertson Road, and two took place on River Road. Ogilvie Street, Spruce Street, 1st Avenue, 3rd Avenue, 15th Avenue, Ospika Boulevard, Queensway, and Tabor Boulevard also each had a single break and enter.

Similarities at each crime scene included smashed glass doors to gain entry and the fact they took place between midnight and 4 am. The thieves specifically targeted cash drawers and weren't opposed to stealing from professional offices, medical clinics, and veterinary clinics.

A Ford F-series pick-up and F-series van were also stolen from separate Quinn Street incidents around the time of the break-ins. Three Ford Excursions were also attempted to be stolen from locations in close proximity to some of the break-ins.

Although police can't confirm these incidents were committed by the same suspect, given the motives, methods, and geographical areas, they likely were. Police are now urging residents and business owners to secure or remove any cash from the premise before leaving for the day and to install a high-quality video surveillance system.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
