On Dec. 7 at around noon, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot of a business.
Police suspected that the 2010 Chevrolet pickup truck had been stolen within the hour.
A short time later, officers spotted the vehicle in the College Heights area. Survalience was initiated and RCMP called for the Air 3 helicopter. Due to the interest of public safety, police did not pursue the stolen vehicle.
According to police, the vehicle left the area, driving dangerously and aggressive. Officers were able to maintain surveillance of it as it travelled northbound on Ospika Boulevard.
Several minutes later, plainclothed officers attempted to box the truck in near the intersection of 15th Avenue and Ewert Street.
The driver made efforts to escape the area and collided with a civilian vehicle and an unmarked police truck. As a result, the driver of the civilian vehicle and police officer suffered minor injuries. Both the stolen vehicle and the police truck sustained significant damage.
The 34-year-old Prince George man is well known to local police for property related offences.
