Motorists will have to find an alternate route to Revelstoke Saturday afternoon, as the Trans-Canada highway has been shut down for avalanche control.
Announced by DriveBC at around 12:45 p.m., Highway 1 will be closed in both directions 26 kilometres west of Revelstoke to nine kilometres west of Revelstoke.
A total of 17 kilometres will be closed until further notice.

Avalanche control will begin at around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 6th and will run until about 10:00 a.m. on the same day.
Meanwhile, a rock slide 17 kilometres north of Kaslo has reduced Highway 31 to single alternating traffic.
