Drivers on the Coquihalla will experience some delays this summer starting on May 23rd.
The delays are thanks to a pair of major construction projects between Hope and Merritt.
The first project is the resurfacing of all four lanes of the Dry Gulch Bridge near the Coquihalla summit, as well as the replacement of the bridge’s abutment bearings and expansion joints.
Meanwhile, 30 kilometres north of Hope there will be further work to build the Box Canyon chain-up area.
Both projects will intermittently reduce traffic down to one lane in each direction.
They’re expected to be completed in the fall.
Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes on long weekends and to travel outside of peak hours if possible.
When approaching roadside workers and vehicles with flashing lights, motorists are reminded to slow down and move over.
