Yvonne Kerman’s dreams of endless travel have come true and they’ll start with a Mediterranean cruise.
That and a whole other world of possibilities have opened up for the Surrey resident after she scored a $1-million win in the Lotto 6/49 draw on Sept. 2.
Kerman was at a lottery kiosk inside Central City mall when she got her ticket scanned and discovered the life-changing news.
“The first thing that crossed my mind was, ‘Holy crap,’” Kerman exclaimed. “I went to grab my daughter so that she could also look and make sure it was real.”
Her focus then turned to telling her husband, but it was hard to get the message across over the phone as she battled through tears.
“I phoned him from the car but was crying so he didn’t know what was going on at first,” said Kerman. “He didn’t think I was telling the truth until my daughter also talked to him.”
The avid traveller says the win is “unbelievable and freeing,” and is looking forward to amping up her family’s travels a notch with the win.
Kerman purchased the winning ticket at the Safeway on 152 Street in Surrey.
