Tonight's Canucks 50/50 jackpot is expected to surpass $1M and you can buy tickets online

Even if you’re not a Vancouver Canucks fan, you may want to consider buying a 50/50 ticket for the team's home game against the Los Angeles Kings tonight.

In recent years, the 50/50 has evolved from an in-game only raffle to a full out lottery online, which gives you a chance to get in on on the action wherever you may be in B.C.

Typically, the jackpot stays under $100,000, but the Canucks for Kids Fund has announced that the jackpot for tonight's game against the Kings is expected to surpass $1 million.

There’s already a guaranteed minimum prize of $500,000 thanks to a generous guarantee from Ascend FS.

It’s hoped that this special 50/50 event will raise funds for charity and also eclipse the previous record of $1,014,555 for the biggest raffle prize in Canadian sports history.

That record was also set at a Canucks game at Rogers Arena on April 5, 2018, when the Sedin twins’ played the final home game of their illustrious careers.

"This is an amazing opportunity for us to generate excitement, awareness and significant funds for charity," said Paolo Aquilini, president of the Canucks for Kids Fund.

"We have a great opportunity for fans to participate in history with one lucky fan winning a life changing prize. But more importantly, we have an unprecedented opportunity help children and families across BC who need the support."

Unless you’re going to be at the game in person next Tuesday night, you’ll have to go to buy tickets for the potentially record-breaking raffle online.
