The College says the licensed practical nurse has had her license suspended for three weeks after using a personal cell phone to take pictures of four pages of documents containing confidential information of 114 residents in a long-term care facility.

“The registrant had no work-related purpose for obtaining the information. Further, the registrant breached an undertaking and failed to cooperate with the regulator during the investigation,” the College explains in the decision [published on May 29..

In addition to the suspension, which the nurse agreed to voluntarily, she has been ordered to take remedial education in ethics, privacy, responsibility and accountability.

The College also requires her to a regulatory practice consulting program to address the foundational issues underpinning this agreement.

An inquiry committee accepted the terms and believes the disciplinary action will protect the public from this type of conduct in the future.
