Dominic Neron and Ashley Bourgeault departed from Penticton on Saturday, November 25th, but never made it to their destination.
Their plane went missing over Revelstoke, and after nine days of searching, the tough decision to call off the search was made on Monday, December 4th.
The case has now been handed over to the Revelstoke RCMP as a missing persons investigation, but the family is not giving up hope.
Neron’s sister, Tammy Neron, has started a GoFundMe to aid in the continued search of the two lost travelers.
“This is devastating and breaks our hearts. We are in Revelstoke doing everything we can to keep this search active among locals with backcountry skills such as skiing, snowmobiling, mountain guides…” writes Neron.
However, Neron adds that the search is progressively getting more and more expensive due to aviation crews and costs.
She says that any money donated will be used to fund search and rescue efforts. Neron says they will not give up until her brother and his girlfriend, Bourgeault, are found.
