The Shovel Lake wildfire is taking a toll on nearby communities, forcing many residents from their homes.

Parks Canada says they are taking precautions to try and protect the Fort St. James National Historical Site, which is the largest collection of restored wooden building in Canada from the fur trade.
Staff from the Fort St. James and Jasper National Park have set up some sprinklers to try and protect the buildings, which hold more than a century of Canadian history.

The Shovel Lake wildfire is currently estimated at 79,192 hectares in size. An evacuation order was expended yesterday due to immediate danger to life and safety.
