Homicide investigation continues on 4-year anniversary of BC woman’s disappearance

It has now been four years since Trina Hunt disappeared.

The 48-year-old Port Moody woman vanished without a trace on Jan. 18, 2021, which led to an extensive search conducted by police, Hunt’s loved ones and members of the community.

Tragically, on March 29, 2021, investigators found a body near Hope that was later confirmed to be Hunt’s remains.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation into her death, which remains active and ongoing today as the unit marks the solemn anniversary.

“For the investigators at IHIT, their hearts are heavy this week as they remember her,” noted an IHIT news release.

Sgt. Freda Fong said the “tragic homicide” has had a huge impact on the Port Moody community and investigators have been “working tirelessly” to advance the case.

While no charges have been laid, investigators have analyzed over 270 hours of videos, conducted 90 interviews and combed through 400 gb of digital evidence and 140 tips from the public.

The complex probe has involved more than 130 investigators and support staff, the IHIT release noted.

“To the family and friends of Trina and the members of the public who have been following this case intently, we want you to know that we hear you and we’re with you,” noted Fong.

“We continue to dedicate all necessary resources and will leave no stone unturned.”
