Premier John Horgan made four high-profile appointments on Thursday morning.
New chairs for BC Hydro, the BC Housing Management Commission and ICBC were all named, along with a director of ICBC as well.
"For 16 years under the Liberal government, ordinary people struggled to get ahead - nowhere have they seen that more than in out-of-control housing and Hydro costs,” said Horgan. “We're tackling affordability and getting government working for people again, starting with Crown corporations and government organizations.”
Kenneth G. Peterson was named chair of BC Hydro. His 40-year career spans a wide range of assignments in the electricity industry, including the past 10 as CEO of Powerex.
Cassie J. Doyle got the nod as chair of the BC Housing Management Commission. She recently served as the CEO of the Canadian International Resources and Development Institute and has previously served as a deputy minister with both the provincial and federal government.
Joy MacPhail was appointed chair of ICBC. She previously served several ministerial roles and is the co-owner of the world’s longest airing LGBTQ+ T.V. network in OUTtv. She has served as director of Delta Hotels, Silverbirch Hotels and Resorts and the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
Cathy McLay is now the director of ICBC. She brings a wealth of financial expertise to the table as the chief financial officer and executive vice-president of Translink. McLay serves on several boards of directors.
“These new executives are ready to get to work for British Columbians,” Horgan said. “They were all chosen for their strong track records of delivering effective leadership that benefits the public.”
