On Feb. 21, David Campbell spent his Friday night playing a few games of Keno on PlayNow.
He went to bed before checking to see if he was a winner, which led to what surely was the most memorable wakeup of his life on Saturday morning.
The Victoria resident woke up to discover that he had matched all 10 numbers and the 5x Keno Bonus from one of the draws, which netted him a record-breaking $1-million prize.
According to the BCLC, it’s the largest Keno prize ever won in British Columbia.
“When I saw the million-dollar win my first thought was, ‘I need a new computer,’” Campbell recalled. “Then I thought maybe someone was punking me!”
He can now buy a new computer with his life-changing windfall, Campbell also plans to use the money to travel and help those around him.
“I have a handful of grateful people around me and plan to celebrate helping those people,” he said.
As for how it feels to become an instant millionaire, he’s still trying to wrap his head around it.
“It really hasn’t sunk in,” Campbell explained. “I’m shocked and in disbelief!”
