A fan who made his way onto the field during a B.C. Lions game, only to get absolutely dummied by a Lions player, has hired a lawyer.
The man, who is in his 20s and from Surrey, is claiming to have suffered serious injuries from the hit, including “a mild traumatic brain injury.”
This comes after he declined an ambulance after being escorted from the field by BC Place security and a Vancouver Police officer.
"We have been retained as legal counsel for the young man involved in the on-field incident at the BC Lions game on June 16, 2018,” said a statement from Preszler Law Firm, who is representing the man.
“Our client has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home. His future prognosis remains unclear.”
The incident happened on Saturday around 9 p.m. during the Lions home opener against the Montreal Alouettes.
Video of the big hit, delivered by Lions defensive back Marcell Young, quickly went viral with most viewers applauding the actions of the player.
The fan, on the other hand, was issued a $115 ticket for violating the Trespass Act and escorted from the stadium, but was not charged with a criminal offence or transported to jail as many reported.
While he denied the ambulance that was offered to him, Preszler Law Firm reports that he was taken to the hospital by his family a short time after leaving the stadium.
