Pets OK BC gets the ear of Housing Minister to change no pets rental policies

It is an issue that resonates with many people, and one grassroots advocacy group is leading the movement to make a big change.

Pet Ok BC aims to change B.C. rental policies around pet ownership - which they say is often a huge obstacle for renters in finding a place to live in the provinces already tight housing market.

The movement gained province-wide attention, and the group was able to get 10,000 signatures on its petition to change rental policies that prevent people with animal companions from renting properties.

Now, after rallying outside of Legislature in Victoria this past weekend, the group has landed a meeting with Housing Minister Selina Robinson.

“It is great progress, but there is still more work to do and we will not stop fighting for this issue until justice comes for people and their pets across B.C.” the group wrote in the Facebook announcement.

Pets OK BC is asking their supporters to send email to their local MLA with the group's letter, asking that no pets policies be removed from the Residential Tenancy Act, the Strata Act, and Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Act.

The letter can be found here.
