Police launch public website, new video, to help solve murder of B.C. teen

Sixth months later and B.C. Police are still searching for a suspect in the tragic murder of a Burnaby teen.

Marrisa Shen, 13, was last seen on July 18, 2017, in surveillance footage leaving her apartment building. Shen was reported missing by her family on the same day. Burnaby RCMP immediately initiated a missing person investigation and at approximately 1:10 am on July 19, the young teen’s body was found on the southeast side of Central Park.

On Thursday, investigators launched a website dedicated entirely to Shen’s case and posted previously unreleased footage of the teenager in a Tim Hortons just hours before she went missing.

The video shows Shen walking into the Tim Hortons near Station Square on July 18 shortly after 6 p.m., and then leaving about an hour and a half later. Police say she didn’t talk to anyone while she was there.

Her death was later determined to be a homicide and a random act.
