A child has passed away in a tragic incident in British Columbia yesterday.
A 23-month-old girl was reported missing from a daycare in Mission at about 4:40 p.m. The caller estimated that the child had been missing for about 10 minutes.
The RCMP says they quickly attended the scene and began a search of the daycare and property as well as neighbouring properties.
The toddler was found by an RCMP member in a neighbours swimming pool. The officer immediately jumped in to retrieve the little girl and called for assistance.
BC Ambulance Service was immediately called, and responded with their Advance Life Support and Air Ambulance service.

Mission RCMP members immediately began CPR including the use of a portable defibrillator carried in the police car, until BC Ambulance Service arrived and they took over resuscitation efforts.
BC Ambulance service transported the little girl with police escort to Mission Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
“The loss of a loved one is always an extremely difficult time,” said Staff Sergeant Steve Crawford, “But it touches everyone much harder when it is a child, and our thoughts go out to the family, and all of those involved.”
Mission RCMP Serious Crimes Unit and the BC Coroners Office are investigating the death.
