The Thompson Nicola Regional District has released drone footage showing the devastation of the Elephant Hill wildfire in Loon Lake.
Approximately 60 properties have sustained damage, most suffering complete loss, said TNRD information officer Kendra Besanger.
The footage was recorded on Saturday, July 22nd. A rapid damage assessment team was deployed in Loon Lake on July 17th and, by July 19th, the TNRD was in contact with residents whose properties had been damaged.
The footage was shown to affected residents earlier this week, Besenger said, and presented at an information meeting for all Loon Lake residents Monday evening in Cache Creek.
Evacuation orders are still in effect in Loon Lake, but partial rescinds have been issued. For information on current evacuation orders, visit the TNRD website or check out its interactive evacuation map.
