Video showing man rescuing eagle in BC goes global

A man who rescued an eagle while out on a boat in the Kootenays with his family has won international recognition for his selfless act.

Brett Bacon posted a video in which he can be seen plucking the ferocious predator out of the water in Windermere on July 4.

His baby and partner were on the boat while he pulled off the heroic deed.

Despite some mild trouble preventing the bird from spreading its wings – including what appears to be a few talon nips – Bacon seemed to handle the situation with aplomb.

Now his finest hour is being reported on across the world.

Bacon told the New York Post he’s the “least outdoorsy” member of his friendship group.

He also explained that he brought the young eagle back to dry land before being informed that it was taken to a facility to be cared for.

His derring-do has also been picked up by the Hindustan Times, Fox News and others.
