If you’re adventuring through B.C. this summer, you’ll want to put Whistler on your pit stop list.
There’s plenty to do in the mountain town to begin with, but one of the area's newest and most popular summer attractions is ready to open for another year.
Vallea Lumina is a “multimedia night walk in pursuit of hidden wonders,” which will take you on a 1.5 kilometre walk through a lit up forest.
It kicks off its second season on May 18 and will be open on Saturdays and Sunday only until June 1, before opening daily for the summer on June 7.

“Join an evening excursion and follow cryptic radio transmissions and the lingering traces of two long-ago hikers to find the scenic trailhead where the real journey begins,” says a description on the Tag Whistler website.
“This pathway leads toward a place filled with beauty, and proof that the legends of Whistler are true.”
The adventure is put on by Moment Factory, a “global leader in video, lighting, sound and special effects,” and promises to bring Whistler’s old growth forest to life.
The Vallea Lumina experience heightens the already gorgeous natural landscape with multimedia that creates an entirely new enchanting world.
“Vallea Lumina is a 1.5 km pathway through an old-growth forest that will take visitors of all ages on an hour-long night walk in pursuit of hidden wonders, telling a story that unfolds in chapters along the way,” the description continues.
This is the first lumina walk to come to British Columbia, but it’s been a popular Moment Factory produced adventure in various other parts of the world.
You can try the walk, which takes between an hour and 90 minutes, for just $39.99 and it starts after sundown with departures every 20 minutes.
If you do try it out, you’re told to bring layered clothing, insect repellent, a camera and, of course, a sense of wonder.
